If you have ever read Shojo manga or watched a Harem anime, you'll know crying is an inevitable scene. As an illustrator, you need to know how to draw anything from a single teardrop to copious amounts of waterworks. It works well and will give your character an amazing look.

Steps

  1. 1

Draw a circle. Use this as a base and to help you position the iris.

  2. 2

Start drawing the upper eyelid, and then the lower eyelid.

  3. 3

Draw an eyebrow. Looking sad or angry. Both will covey an agonized looking expression.

  4. 4

Draw eyelashes, more if it is a girl.

  5. 5

Add curvy, wave-like lines, starting to make the actual tears.

  6. 6

Draw the wave down until you meet the jaw, then draw the wave down until the chin.

  7. 7

Draw drips coming off of the chin.

  • Question

What is the perfect utensil for drawing?

    Community Answer

Pencil is the best utensil, as you can sketch as light or dark as you want. If you make a mistake, you can rub it out. Once you are happy with your drawing, you make go over it in anything, such as pen or crayon.

  • Question

What colors should I use to color the tear, and do I have to draw it on the chin?

    Community Answer

A good color is a very light blue that is close to white. You don't need to draw tears running down the chin.

  • Question

How do I become a professional Anime drawer?

    Community Answer

Keep practicing. It takes most anime and manga artist years to perfect their skills. Once you get used to drawing "anime style", you can move to more advanced skills, and remember, be creative. You don't want to copy other artist's work, or else it will be unoriginal.

  • Question

How do I draw anime crying with closed eyes?

    Community Answer

Draw arches, representing closed eyes, then add eyelashes on the sides. One that's done, draw the tears leaking from under the lashes.

  • Question

Even without the eyelashes, the eyes still look feminine on my male figure. How can I fix this?

    Community Answer

Try making smaller eyes. However, some male figures look like females both in real life and anime. You can adjust to your liking.

  • Question

What color should the tears be if they are on a white creature?

    Community Answer

They could be a slightly darker blue to make them more visible. If you're drawing digitally, you could darken the tears a bit and, if they're on a different layer, raise the opacity.

  • Question

How do people always draw anime mostly perfect?

    Community Answer

Drawing anything perfectly takes practice and people that draw anime well are no exception. If you want to learn to draw anime well, start off easy and start getting harder as you master the level and continue to practice.

  • Question

How do I draw the rest of the face, such as the ears, nose, and mouth?

    Community Answer

Anime drawings often focus on the eyes, so the rest of the face doesn't need to be as complex. Draw a simple upside-down triangle without the base for the nose, and a wide "U" for the mouth. Cover the ears with the hair.

  • Question

How do I draw a mouth?

    Community Answer

Mouths are really easy to draw. Just draw an upside-down narrow-looking 'U', or draw the character nervously lip biting.

  • Question

How do I get a good shape for the tears streaming down the face when drawing anime?

    Community Answer

Experiment! Don't be afraid to do it your own way. I prefer drawing a small, rounded "m" for inside the eye, and a wiggly, noodle-like shape for the tears streaming out of the eye and down the face.
